Zoey Stark Defends Becky Lynch Vs Trish Stratus Being Cut From SummerSlam

Zoey Stark and Trish Stratus on WWE Raw

Zoey Stark has defended the WWE’s decision not to hold the much anticipated Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus bout at SummerSlam.

Stark has aligned with Stratus having made a shock appearance to help the Canadian WWE Hall Of Famer defeat ‘The Man’ at WWE Night Of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 27th May.

Stratus and Lynch have been locked in a feud ever since, with many believing the pair would battle at SummerSlam. Instead the bout has now been schedule for the 14th August episode of Raw, emanating from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Lynch appeared to show her disappointment on social media at missing ‘The biggest party of the summer’, but Starks has chosen to distance herself from those feelings, instead urging people to look forward to the upcoming match.

Speaking in an interview with Ten Count’s Stephanie Hypes, the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion defended the WWE’s decision not to place the match on the show:

“Hunter [Triple H] is a smart man. There is a reason, guys. He’s not just doing it to screw the women. He’s not. He’s doing it because he wants to make sure Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus have plenty of time to do it.

I’m sure there are other reasons that come into play that we’re not even thinking about. When we get the match, and we will, it will be great and we will have plenty of time and it’s going to be a match well worth waiting for.”

Was Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus actually cut from SummerSlam?

Starks words were backed up by WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, who spoke at the post SummerSlam press conference to deny that the match had originally been planned for the Premium Live Event at Detroit’s Ford Field, instead suggesting the pair would receive an increased showcase on another occasion.
