NXT star Zoey Stark reveals she has been working backstage while recovering from injury

On the July 19th edition of NXT 2.0, Zoey Stark made her in-ring return as a surprise entrant in Battle Royal to determine a new number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. Stark would end up winning the encounter after eliminating Cora Jade, earning a future title opportunity

Speaking with Corey Graves on his After the Bell podcast, Stark revealed she had been working as a producer on NXT while rehabbing her knee:

“Well, to become a better performer number one. I knew I was going to come back and I knew producing was going to help me inside the ring, you know, when you coach somebody, two people are learning. And I’m learning at the same time because now I’m really having to think about it. It’s amazing to be able to do both sides and then you get a different side, and like ‘Oh, this is what producers have to go through, I had no idea.'”

Stark is a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, having become champion alongside Iyo Sky, then known as Io Shirai, at 2021’s Great American Bash.

They would lose the belts at the Halloween Havoc TV special to Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne, Toxic Attraction, in a Ladder Match also involving Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta. Shortly after, it was revealed Stark suffered a torn ACL and was hastily written off TV after a backstage attack by Toxic Attraction.

Zoey Stark is currently scheduled to fight Mandy Rose for the NXT Women’s Championship at Tuesday’s NXT Heatwave. Stark will also take part in the Women’s Tag Team championship tournament, teaming up with Nikkita Lyons.
