WWE has just confirmed that Zelina Vega has been released from the company.
A statement on WWE.com reads:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”
Vega – who recently challenged Asuka for the RAW Women’s Championship following a lengthy spell managing the faction of Andrade, Angel Garza and Austin Theory – tweeted moments before WWE’s confirmation of the release, “I support unionization.”
Vega had been part of WWE since 2013, spending over three years competing in sporadic matches and even appearing as one of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds before transitioning into a managerial role where she would manage Andrade as the former United States Champion became NXT Champion. Vega would end up on WWE RAW in 2019 and would go on to manage the stable of Andrade, Garza and Austin Theory before the latter moved back to NXT. Vega would then seemingly venture into a new role as a singles competitor, even receiving a title shot from Asuka at WWE Clash of Champions and the following night on RAW.
Zelina Vega also portrayed AJ Lee in the Fighting With My Family movie, which is a biopic of the career of Paige. Vega is married to current SmackDown Superstar Aleister Black.
More details have now been released regarding Zelina Vega’s release.
