WWE SmackDown star Zelina Vega honoured her father at the ceremony in New York which marked the 20th anniversary of the devastating events that took place on September 11th, 2001.
Vega took part in the annual reading of the names of the victims of the attacks, one of whom was her father Michael Angel Trinidad who had worked in the World Trade Center.
“And my father, Michael Angel Trinidad. We love you. We miss you. There are so many events that I wish you were a part of, like my wedding or Timmy making you a grandfather. We hope that you’re proud of us and please look after me and the rest of the family.”

Earlier in the day, Vega shared pictures of her father on Twitter with a touching tribute.
“For you, always. No matter what. I love you dad. I hope I make you proud.”
Vega was set to appear in a tag match on the most recent episode of WWE SmackDown that would have seen her partner with Carmella to take on Liv Morgan and Toni Storm, however, the bout was cut from the show because of time constraints alongside a segment featuring Happy Corbin and Kevin Owens.
Zelina Vega returned to WWE in July 2021 after an eight-month absence from the company. In a recent interview, she said she came back as she felt she had unfinished business, specifying that she wanted to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship now held by Becky Lynch.
