Zelina Vega Comments Publicly On Shock WWE Return

Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega has commented publicly after her shock return to WWE as she was re-introduced by Sonya Deville as the newest combatant in the women’s Money In The Bank match.

Vega was controversially released from WWE in late 2020 after the company implemented a policy that forbade WWE Superstars from dealing with third-party platforms including Twitch and Cameo. Vega was regular on Twitch and continued appearing on her own channel following her release from the company.

Now less than a year later, Zelina Vega has returned to WWE’s blue brand, being introduced on Friday night’s show by Sonya Deville. Deville announced that Vega will be one of SmackDown’s representatives in the women’s Money In The Bank match that will take place on the eponymous pay-per-view on July 18th. She was soon interrupted by an upset Liv Morgan who was unhappy that SmackDown’s women are simply being handed places in the important match. This interjection ended with Vega’s first match back in the company being an impromptu one against Morgan. Morgan managed to defeat Vega in two minutes, backing up her own claim for a place in the Money In The Bank match.

Following her appearance Vega took to social media to comment on her return, Vega Tweeted:

“What to take from tonight: I’m back. I’m going to be in the MITB ladder match. ..and I will win. Period. Everything else is irrelevant.”

The landscape in WWE will be quite different for Zelina Vega this time around. Her former client who she led to the NXT and US Championships Andrade has left for pastures new and will soon compete in his first match in AEW against Matt Sydal. Closer to home, Vega’s husband Aleister Black is no longer part of WWE, having been released from his own WWE contract at the beginning of June 2021.
