Yuka Sakazaki Set For AEW Return

It’s been announced that ‘The Magical Girl’ Yuka Sakazaki will be returning to an AEW ring shortly.

Sakazaki’s home promotion Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling took to social media to inform fans that the former Princess of Princess Champion would be going on excursion to USA to wrestle for AEW for the month of July.

She’s following in the recent footsteps of fellow competitors under the DDT/TJPW banner in Konosuke Takeshita & Maki Itoh of crossing the Pacific for a month of shows with All Elite Wrestling.

Sakazaki had most recently competed for AEW as a part of their Women’s Title Eliminator Tournament’s Japanese bracket, so this will mark Yuka’s return to wrestling stateside for the first time since February 2020.

Shortly before Sakazaki’s last appearance in the USA for AEW, she had been mixing it up with the current AEW Women’s champion Britt Baker, so it will be interesting to see if their paths cross once again.

Yuka Sakazaki has been a part of AEW since their debut event Double or Nothing 2019, where she was on the losing side of a six-person tag match, teaming with Aja Kong & Emi Sakura against Hikaru Shida, Riho & Ryo Mizunami.

Yuka’s excursion does mean that she will have to forgo this year’s Tokyo Princess Cup, and unless current quarantine measures change won’t return to action for TJPW until their Korakuen Hall show on August 14th.

Sakazaki also recently competed as part of CyberFight Festival ’21, where she was part of a triple main event, challenging one of her oldest rivals in Miyu Yamashita in an attempt to once again claim top honours in TJPW, the Princess of Princess Championship.
