New Japan Pro Wrestling legend Yuji Nagata made his return to US shores on the most recent edition of New Japan’s US offering, Strong.
The man known as ‘Blue Justice’ was thrust straight into the show’s main event, where he teamed with young lion Ren Narita to take on Chris Dickinson and the current IWGP US Heavyweight Champion, Jon Moxley.
The match went just shy of 10 minutes, with Moxley picking up the victory for his team after nailing Narita with his Death Rider finisher.
Following the bell, Nagata and Moxley continued to brawl, with the 53-year-old Japanese star getting the better of the exchange by catching the AEW man in his patterned Nagata Lock II.
The LA Dojo was quickly dispatched to eventually force Nagata to relinquish the hold but the damage may have already been done.
Moxley and Nagata are, of course, set to square off on the May 12th episode AEW Dynamite, with this being the primary reason for Nagata’s excursion to the US.
Another positive example of the working relationship between AEW and New Japan, Nagata’s match on Wednesday will see him wrestle on the TNT Network for the first time since 1998 (with WCW).
New Japan Strong airs every Friday on New Japan’s subscription streaming service, New Japan World.
