Tony Khan once went way out of his way to help this injured AEW star.
Last year, 2024, on May 11, Eddie Kingston suffered a broken leg during his NJPW match against Gabe Kidd. Sidelined and out of action since then, the former Continental Champion is currently recovering from his injury while preparing for his return to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Training with Cezar Bononi in preparation for his return, Kingston regularly appears on his YouTube videos. In his latest upload, the 43-year-old revealed a tragic incident, when his insurance policy refused to cover two of his surgeries. However, it was AEW President Tony Khan who stepped up during the occasion and helped Kingston with his medical bills.
Revealing Khan’s heartwarming and unbelievable act, Kingston shared,
“When I had hernia surgery three years ago, my insurance at the time said they would cover it. The day of the surgery, they said they couldn’t cover it. Thank God other people took care of that one. It happened again, same insurance, with the knee surgery. The day of the knee surgery, they said, ‘No, we’re not covering it.’ The surgeon knew, because he’d seen this before with this insurance, he was like, ‘Let me make a couple of calls.’ Tony took care of it. Thank God. That was it.”

Talents and people involved with the promotion have often praised how Khan takes care of his employees, including the veteran Jim Ross, who recently extended his tenure at the promotion based on just how well Khan treated him.
