Xia Li was pulled from her amateur kickboxing fight scheduled for October 24, per a report from Fightful Select.
The NXT Superstar was set to face Anna Housel in a 125-pound contest at Combat Night Orlando last weekend, however Fightful Select reports that WWE only learned about the fight when it was reported online, just days before the event.
It was said that though those within the company were understanding of WWE’s decision, though Xia Li thought that WWE “was not giving her respect”.
Fightful adds that Li went directly to Triple H to express that she was ready for an opportunity, and that ‘The Game’ appreciated her initiative.
Xia Li has been regularly featured on NXT TV since the black and gold brand went live on the USA Network late last year. Despite her win/loss record not being in her favour, Li recently entered an intriguing storyline with fellow Chinese NXT Superstar, Boa.
Prior to the fight taking place, Combat Night Orlando promoter Mitchell Chamale told the Roman Show:
“I was unaware [that Li is a wrestler] until recently, but to us, she is an athlete looking to test her skill on our event. We do our best to treat all our athletes the same regardless of what they do outside the cage.”
