Xavier Woods Reacts To G4TV Closure

Xavier Woods

When he’s not tearing it up on Friday Night SmackDown alongside his New Day brethren, Xavier Woods can often be found playing video games. The multi-time WWE Tag Team Champion is as avid a gamer as any, so much so that he hosts his own YouTube gaming channel, UpUpDownDown, typically playing games alongside fellow WWE Superstars.

It appears the New Day man will have more time to do so now, with the announcement that Comcast is closing G4TV. Deadline issued the memo sent by Comcast CEO Dave Scott that informed employees of the network’s closure, who stated that insignificant viewership and financial results were the key reason for the network ceasing operations.

“Oh” – Tweet Informed Xavier Woods Of G4TV’s Closure

The memo clearly didn’t catch Xavier Woods in time, however, as he found out about G4TV’s closure via Twitter. Tweeting that he was on a flight, Woods needed WiFi to send a text message and opened Twitter “out of habit”, seeing the news in front of him.

Relaunched in November 2021, G4TV featured numerous wrestling personalities from both WWE and AEW on its weekly program, Attack of the Show. Xavier Woods was a regular co-host of this, joined by Gina Darling. Numerous other involved employees also found out about the closure via social media, including Darling.

As well as the running of UpUpDownDown, which is currently sitting at 2.34 million subscribers and 444+ million total channel views, Xavier Woods has already made several other ventures into the gaming world. He voiced the character of Vincent Mensah in 2064: Read Only Memories, and has been featured in Fall Guys, Super Bomberman R, and Gears 5.

Signed by WWE in July 2010 following a successful run in the then-Total Nonstop Action as Consequences Creed, Xavier Woods made his debut with Florida Championship Wrestling exactly one week after signing his contract. He’s since held thirteen WWE Tag Team Championships alongside Kofi Kingston and Big E in The New Day.
