Xavier Woods has paid tribute to Claudio Castagnoli, continuing the well-established friendship between the pair of former WWE Tag Team Champions.
During their time together in WWE, Xavier Woods and Claudio Castagnoli had a well-known friendship that exceeded the squared circle. Together, the duo, alongside Adam Cole and Tyler Breeze, were part of an online gaming quartet.
With ‘The Swiss Superman’ now signed to AEW, Woods is the only remaining member of Da Party signed to WWE but that didn’t stop him from paying tribute to his former colleague. During a recent live event in Fort Lauderdale, which pitted Woods and Kofi Kingston against The Usos, the 2021 King of the Ring winner applied Claudio’s signature headlock.
As referenced by Xavier Woods on Twitter, the move, dubbed the ‘Claudio Castagnoli lean’ adds more pressure to the opponent’s neck:
“The @ClaudioCSRO lean. Adds more pressure to the neck. Do everything you can to ensure victory!”

The New Day ended up failing to dethrone The Usos of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships during the event. Recent house show loops have seen the former rivals intertwined with each other, often with The Viking Raiders, and The Brawling Brutes’ Sheamus and Butch involved too.
Xavier Woods and Claudio Castagnoli have shared the ring countless times together, dating back to their time in Florida Championship Wrestling. Enjoying tag team rivalries between The New Day and Claudio’s various alliances, they last shared a ring as part of the 2021 Royal Rumble match.
Xavier and Kofi Kingston are now expected to face The Viking Raiders at WWE SummerSlam, while Castagnoli will look to win his first World Championship when he challenges ROH champion Jonathan Gresham at Death Before Dishonor.
