Xavier Woods Seemingly Undergoes Name Change Following Return

Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston

Upon returning to WWE television, Xavier Woods has seemingly undergone a name change.

On the March 25th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, King Woods returned to action for the first time since January 7th. On that occasion, WWE’s resident King teamed with Kofi Kingston to take on The Usos in a Street Fight with SmackDown Tag Team gold on the line.

During the match, Woods attempted hit a DDT on Jey Uso from outside the ring back in. However, the current King of the Ring later revealed that he picked up an injury in the process. Appearing on G4’s Attack of the Show on January 13th, he explained that he would be out of action for between four to six weeks as a result of a torn plantaris. The muscle situated underneath the calf.

After returning to action on March 12th in tag team action at a WWE live event, and wrestling at two further events, Woods has finally returned to SmackDown.

However, it appears that the star is once again going by Xavier Woods, rather than King Woods, as he had been prior to his injury. The change can be seen on Woods’ profile page on WWE.com.

On SmackDown, it had been announced that Kofi Kingston would be taking on Ridge Holland, although that soon proved to not be the case. Kingston said that Holland would be facing a member of the New Day, but it wouldn’t be him, before announcing the arrival of his tag team partner.

Xavier Woods promptly defeated Holland in under a minute.

Name changes have been a hot topic in WWE in recent weeks after Pete Dunne was renamed Butch following his arrival on the main roster.
