Eric Bischoff has revealed how he believes X-Pac got DX over “more than anything” – and clarified that he includes Triple H and Shawn Michaels in that statement.
Speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, the former WCW President opened up about the Monday Night Wars and, in particular, D-Generation X. Bischoff would reveal how X-Pac added “credibility” and made it all feel more real, due to how he left WCW – reportedly being fired by FedEx.
“There was no question that it was a really powerful faction. The timing was right. I’ve said this before, and I’m gonna say this again – I think what got DX over more than anything – more than Triple H, more than Shawn Michaels – was Sean Waltman. I think that added a level of credibility when that happened and just made it feel more real. It brought more of an edgy character with it. I think because of the way he left WCW and the rhetoric back and forth and all that. But it felt like war, and it felt like it should’ve felt during the Monday Night War era.”
Meanwhile, X-Pac recently revealed the incredible news that he is cured of hepatitis C, and will undergo surgery at the end of January with the aim of having one more run in wrestling.
“Now, that’s clear. I’m going to get my knee fixed, I’ve had a torn ACL since the turn of this decade, like 2008 or something. I’m going to get that fixed and sometime next year, I’ll put myself on the market, have a few more matches. Everyone thinks they have one more run left in them. Anywhere I run, it’d have to be a sprint.”
