WWE’s Nixed Plans For Nikki Bella Revealed; Backstage Uncertainty

After AJ Lee, Former Women's Champion Hints At Joining Nikki Bella For WWE Return

Scrapped WWE plans for Nikki Bella were revealed amid backstage uncertainty.

Nikki Bella was advertised to appear for this week’s RAW, but the Hall of Famer was absent. Many think that it was because her rival, Liv Morgan, was injured during a match, causing plans to be halted or changed. Now, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer have shed light on what happened in the latest episode of WWE Monday Night RAW.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Alvarez shared that following the news of Liv Morgan’s injury and future surgery, it may put a damper on Nikki’s Evolution 2 showing and a possible Brie Bella return. Meltzer then suggested that if WWE continues with the rumored tag team title bout between Raquel Rodriguez and Liv against The Bella Twins, they can replace Morgan with Roxanne Perez. However, Meltzer shared that there have been no key meetings yet on what will happen at the upcoming all-women’s premium live event so far.

Dave Meltzer then reported that Nikki Bella was present on this week’s Monday night show and was supposed to get involved in Liv vs. Kairi Sane, but everybody probably panicked when Morgan got injured.

Nikki Bella was there and she was going to do a run in in the Liv Morgan Kairi Sane match to help set up, you know, this next part of the angle. But they decided for whatever reason, I guess because they just everything was a panic at that point. And they probably didn’t put her out on a promo because it’s like, well, if she’s OK, what do you mean? What do you say? So that’s why she was not on the show, even though she’d been advertised all week. She was there.”

Nikki Bella Shares What’s Special About Her WWE Return

The former Divas Champion wasn’t the only WWE Hall of Famer who returned after being gone for a long time or after initially announcing retirement. However, Nikki Bella shared what made her recent return special compared to those of other legends.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Nikki Bella said she would continue coming back and would be around after her current return, noting that it won’t be a “quick in and out.”

It will be interesting to see what is next for the WWE Hall of Famer.
