Plans that WWE seemingly had for Andrade before his release have been revealed.
The wrestling world was shocked earlier in the day when news came to light that “El Idolo” had been released by World Wrestling Entertainment. The former NXT Champion had made his return to the promotion as a surprise entry during the Men’s Royal Rumble Match in 2024.
The 35-year-old has been absent from TV since Night Two of SummerSlam earlier this year. He, along with tag partner Rey Fenix, participated in the Six-Pack Tag Team TLC match. There were reports of him having creative differences ever since his return; however, in a new report, Dave Meltzer claimed that the WWE had plans to use Andrade in AAA.
Speaking on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer made the claim, saying that he’d heard the same from sources within the company; however, Andrade seemingly didn’t want to do it. He added that he was unsure if this was one of the reasons for his release from the promotion, also stating that the reports about him having disciplinary issues were also true:
I know that they wanted him in the AAA project. He didn’t do it, you know, so there’s that. So you can read what into what. But I don’t know if that has anything to do with it or not. I am sure all of this will be denied in the next week or two, but that part being sent home, and disciplinary, and all that, that’s accurate.”
