WWE had another big show in mind but was unable to execute its vision.

Mixing the current and previous eras on November 6th, NXT ran the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia and paid homage to ECW throughout the night.

With strong ticket sales, strong ratings and well-received cameos, the show was deemed a success across the board. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that a follow-up was in discussion. However, with another promotion securing the desired location ahead of time, plans were changed.

As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT attempted to book the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York for another special event but dates were deemed to be too close to those booked out by Tony Khan for ROH and AEW.

NXT attempted to book a date at the Hammerstein Ballroom to follow up on the 2300 Arena success. However the date they wanted was close enough to the dates Tony Khan had booked.

Ring of Honor Final Battle will take place in the legendary venue on December 20th and an AEW Collision taping will take place the following night.
