A bizarre incident sent a WWE veteran to the hospital
There have been many former and current names in WWE that have become notable despite not being in-ring performers. There are the likes of commentary veteran Michael Cole, Stu the cameraman who became well-known due to John Cena’s entrances, ring announcer Lilian Garcia, and several others. Among them is the longtime referee Charles Robinson.
Charles Robinson has been in WWE since 2001 and is a senior referee on SmackDown. Despite only being an official, the 61-year-old got involved in several key moments in the ring over the years. Recently, he took a spear from Goldberg during the latter’s retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Unfortunately, the veteran’s latest health update isn’t due to a scripted move in a match.
In one of his latest Instagram posts, Charles Robinson shared that he was hospitalized at 2:00 in the morning after being bitten by a bat. He shared that he spent 4 hours in the Emergency Room and received six shots for the bite. Despite being bitten, the WWE referee later posted the photo of the bat, calling it a “cutie.”
Great way to start the morning. 2:00am and got bit by a bat. That’s right a bat! 4 hours later in the ER and six shots. #animalattacks #hospital.”

Charles Robinson Was Part Of Cody Rhodes’ Happiest Moments At WWE WrestleMania XL
Cody Rhodes ended Roman Reigns’ 1,316-day reign as champion at WrestleMania XL. Following the stellar match, which was officiated by Charles Robinson, The American Nightmare was joined in the ring by friends and family. As it turns out, even the WWE referee’s role became a memorable part in Rhodes’ victory.
While speaking with Kenny McIntosh from Inside the Ropes for issue 48 of the magazine, Cody Rhodes shared that Robinson handing him the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL was the happiest memory he could have.
The best thing that happened if you’re asking me about what’s in my heart — and I don’t think I even articulated this to this individual — is Charles Robinson, legendary WWE official and Little Naitch. Charles handing me the title. Even now I’m just tensing up thinking about it. Charles Robinson handing me the title was the happiest memory I could possibly have.”
We at ITR Wrestling are hoping for a speedy recovery for senior WWE official Charles Robinson.
