WWE Urged To Send 2 Huge Main Roster Stars Back To TNA After Several Years

Two of WWE’s biggest stars have been urged to go back to TNA Wrestling.

Several years ago, World Wrestling Entertainment released Drew McIntyre following a lacklustre run. However, instead of complaining, McIntyre spent time honing his craft. He made a name for himself in the indies and TNA/Impact Wrestling before heading back to the Stamford-based company. Similarly, former two-time WWE Champion AJ Styles also hailed from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, although he wasn’t someone with a brief stint in the promotion. He was one of their original stars. Now, the Nashville-based promotion’s former World Champion Steve Maclin wants these two major WWE Superstars back in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Speaking to SportsKeeda’s WrestleBinge, Maclin opened up on the names he wants to lock up against amidst the ongoing WWE-TNA collaboration.

There’s a lot of talent there. Not so much in NXT but there are a lot of former TNA talent that I would love to mix it up, on RAW and SmackDown. Like, Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles would be somebody I would love to cross that line and see back in a TNA ring. I think the whole world would love to see that.”

He further stated,

I think that’s the right and the right moment kind of thing, if it ever does happen. And if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. It’s okay, but it is something of one of those what-ifs. It’s kind of like The Undertaker-Sting match, you always wanted. It’s one of those moments but if you don’t get it, you always think of, what if? So, its just its own creativity in it’s own mind.”

Styles recently defeated Chad Gable on the 9th June episode of Raw, while McIntyre is currently on a hiatus following his latest match against Damian Priest. The Phenomenal One had his last TNA match on January 9, 2014, while The Scottish Warrior had his last at the TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view in 2016.

Former WWE Champion AJ Styles Explains Decision To Not Enter TNA Hall Of Fame

Earlier last year, in October 2024, rumors emerged about Styles refusing TNA’s offer to induct him into their Hall of Fame. Later, the former champion appeared on X(Twitter), and explained the entire situation.

Earlier this year, while speaking at a Fanatics Live Signing, AJ Styles opened up on his decision not to enter the TNA Hall of Fame.

“There was a time they wanted me to come in and be in the TNA Hall of Fame. I just thought it was a little disrespectful at the time, to WWE, to go into the TNA Hall Of Fame. I want to go into the Hall of Fame when I’m done wrestling. I think that’s more appropriate. There are a lot of places I’ve wrestled and I’m very thankful that I can be in any Hall of Fame. I’m gonna wait until I’m done.”
