It has been announced that the legendary clash between Edge and Mick Foley at WrestleMania 22 will be the subject of a new WWE Untold documentary premiering on Sunday April 4th.
You can read a brief synopsis of the documentary below.
Mick Foley came out of retirement in 2006 in search of that elusive WrestleMania moment. Not only does The Hardcore Legend find his WrestleMania moment, but he does so while forging a lasting friendship with his opponent Edge in one the most grisly matches in the history of The Show of Shows.
In February 2006 Mick Foley served as the special guest referee in a WWE Championship match between Edge and John Cena. Cena would ultimately win the match much to the annoyance of Edge who proceeded to attack Foley after the bell.
This led to the pair meeting in a hardcore match at WrestleMania 22. Aided by barbed wire, chairs and and a flaming table thanks to Lita, the two men battled through what is one of the most brutal matches to ever take place at WrestleMania. From the embers of the carnage, Edge would eventually emerge victorious in a match that will continue to be spoken about for decades to come.
While Mick Foley would hop in and out of retirement up until finally calling it a day in 2012, Edge was forced to hang up his boots in 2011 due to the results of a serious neck injury.
That is until the 2020 Royal Rumble when the Ultimate Opportunist made the unlikeliest of comebacks. After being side-lined through injury for much of 2020, Edge returned again at the 2021 Royal Rumble lasting from start to finish to claim victory.
Since his triumph Edge chose to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37, while also becoming embroiled in a feud with Daniel Bryan along the way.
On the most recent episode of SmackDown Edge snapped, laying waste to both Bryan and Roman Reigns after the former was added to the Universal Title Match at WrestleMania.
