WWE are set to capitalise on Cody Rhodes’ explosive moment at Elimination Chamber, where he told The Rock to “go f*** himself.”
According to WrestleVotes on WrestleVotes Radio, WWE have approved official merchandise featuring the phrase alongside Rhodes’ American Nightmare branding. The design is expected to be released as a limited-edition item, likely available only during WrestleMania weekend.
“In addition, we have learned that WWE is going to lean into the now-infamous ‘Go F Yourself’ line from Cody Rhodes as they have okayed potential merchandise with that phrase alongside the American Nightmare branding, which could be WrestleMania weekend supershow exclusive merchandise,”
WrestleVotes reported.
The viral moment occurred at Elimination Chamber when The Rock attempted to persuade Rhodes to align with him. After Rhodes refused, The Rock was left stunned, and the situation escalated further when John Cena shockingly turned heel, attacking Cody and adding further intrigue to their WrestleMania 41 clash.
Reports suggest that The Rock had originally pushed for Rhodes to turn heel, but Rhodes rejected the idea. WWE then pivoted to their backup plan, turning John Cena instead, marking his first run as a heel in the company since 2003.
What Was WWE’s Original Plan For John Cena’s Heel Turn?
It has been reported that WWE initially had other plans for John Cena’s heel turn and were reportedly not going to turn him heel at Elimination Chamber, instead they planned to save the heel turn for the conclusion of his and Cody Rhodes’ match at WrestleMania 41. It was also reported that the decision to make the turn at Elimination Chamber wasn’t made until the day of the show.
