Wrestlers in masks is nothing new, but one WWE Superstar is hoping to step behind a mask outside of the ring on popular TV series The Masked Singer.
The show regularly pulls in millions of viewers per week in the US and is soon to begin it’s 9th season. And one huge name from the wrestling world is keen to make his mark on the celebrity reality series.
WWE Star Makes Pitch To Appear On The Masked Singer
In a recent interview with CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri, former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman revealed his desire to showcase his vocal talents to the world:
“I’ve been lobbying about that for a couple of years since that show started. A little known secret, I’m not that bad of a singer. But me patting myself on the back, never, right? But it’s definitely something that I’ve talked about and now being back on Fox, Friday Night SmackDown, I mean, let’s go. It’s hand in hand.”
The ‘Monster Among Men’, who made his WWE return in September, also vocalised his desire to branch out into the recording studio in the near future:
“I’ve actually been talking to a buddy of mine, a good friend of mine, Jared Barnett. He used to travel the world with Cirque du Soleil. He plays the electric violin. He does it freelance now. We’re going to sit down with a couple other guys and record a few songs. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do. I’ve talked about doing it for a long time and I’m sick of manifesting these dreams in my head and sometimes pushing them off the side. It’s starting to check these bucket list things off. I’m not getting any younger, so you know what? Let’s take a shot in the dark. You never know what happens.”
Strowman would be following in the footsteps of Chris Jericho, who appeared in Season 8 of the show earlier in 2022. The AEW star was eliminated in week 8 of the series, appearing as ‘The Bride’ and was less than impressed with the manner of his exit.
