On the June 2nd episode of WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns will celebrate 1000 days as World Champion.
The Tribal Chief hit the milestone at Night of Champions and come the big night on the blue brand, his Universal Title reign will stand at 1006 days. Meanwhile, he has held the WWE Championship since WrestleMania 38, 425 days ago.
To mark the celebration it has been reported that WWE could be about to introduce a new championship belt. The report via Fightful Select states that memos had been going around referencing the “new WWE Universal Championship.” There is also set to be a platform where this new championship belt will be unveiled.
The presentation is set to resemble The Rock unveiling the new WWE Title back in 2013.
While nothing has been confirmed this appears to signal WWE merging the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship into one title. This means that there will be the World Heavyweight Title on Raw and the WWE Universal Title on SmackDown.
Jimmy Uso To Gatecrash Roman Reigns’ WWE Universal Title Party?
Although Roman Reigns might have hit that impressive championship milestone at Night of Champions, the night was largely one he’ll want to forget. On the show, he teamed with Solo Sikoa in an attempt to win the Undisputed Tag Team Titles from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
However, these efforts were undone by two savage Superkicks from Jimmy Uso, who snapped after becoming fed up with The Usos being marginalised within The Blooldine. While Reigns might be in a celebratory mood on SmackDown, it’s impossible to believe that there won’t be consequences heading Jimmy’s way.
