WWE have announced that they will be returning to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for Money In The Bank on July 4th weekend 2022.
The announcement came during SummerSlam which was being held inside the same stadium in front of over 50,000 fans.
The first ever Money In The Bank Ladder Match was held in 2005 at WrestleMania 21. That match was won by Edge who went on to win the WWE Championship from John Cena.
Money In The Bank became a standalone pay-per-view in 2010 and has remained that way ever since. At the 2010 event there were two ladder matches. One for RAW’s WWE Championship and one for SmackDown’s World Heavyweight Championship.
A Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match was introduced for the first time in 2016 with Carmella becoming the inaugural winner.
The 2021 edition of the pay-per-view became something of a landmark event in WWE’s history. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the event saw a capacity crowd return for a pay-per-view for the first time in over a year.
In the main event, Roman Reigns defended his Universal Championship against Edge but that was only half of the story. At the match’s conclusion John Cena returned to WWE staring down the champion.
