WWE looks set to make an appearance in a new international market in the near future.
The promotion looks set to continue its tour of the globe with shows in Berlin, Australia and a return to Saudi Arabia already locked in for 2024 and rumours circulating that France will be added to the list. According to a new report, another new international show is set to be announced imminently.
Recapping the TKO Q3 earnings call in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has noted that there have been plans discussed for shows to take place in China, which may include the UFC holding an event the day before or after. It is also noted that a big WWE show in the country is planned for the near future:
They noted for next year new shows in Saudi Arabia and Shanghai, China, and that WWE will also have a paid show in China coming up. They noted that the Saudi Arabia government is hot on showcasing and growing UFC. He called the PFL a pipeline system and feeder league, which is not what they want to be at all, like the XFL would be to the NFL. They said Saudi Arabia was very aggressive in bring major events to the kingdom, and they want more MMA. They also noted that the dream of fighters was to be in the UFC.
While the promotion has previously hosted numerous house shows in China, this would be the first time that a taped event for broadcast would be taking place.
The promotion recently presented its 10th show in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which saw Roman Reigns defeat LA Knight to retain the Undisputed Championship in the main event.
WWE & UFC Super Weekends Discussed
Looking to make as big of an impact internationally as possible and to minimise travel costs, there have been talks of both promotions hosting events in the same location over the course of a weekend. It is heavily assumed that if this were to be the case then UFC would get the Saturday night slot and WWE would host their show on Friday and/or Monday, with either a double helping of weekly TV or a Premium Live Event on the Friday and Raw on the Monday.
