It seems that WWE might potentially put an end to a struggling tag team on SmackDown.
Ever since stepping up to the main roster as the third overall pick of the WWE draft in 2024, Carmelo Hayes has been teaming with The Miz the majority of his SmackDown stint this year. They came together on the February 21st episode, calling themselves “Melo Don’t Miz,” a wordplay on the 31-year-old’s catchphrase “Melo Don’t Miss.”
In their first match as a team, Hayes and The Miz defeated LA Knight and R-Truth after hitting a combination of Skull-Crushing Finale and Codebreaker called “First 48.” Since then, they haven’t been tag partners in matches as they’re into their separate ways, with both of them having losing streaks in singles matches.
During this week’s episode of SmackDown, Hayes was about to go to General Manager Nick Aldis’ office when The Miz suddenly came out. The 31-year-old then questioned The Awesome One, who had previously promised him a top spot but instead left him high and dry for two months.

Seemingly distraught, Miz agreed with Melo deserving better things. When the former NXT Champion tried to go inside the general manager’s office, the former WWE Champion stopped him in his tracks.
The ‘Melo Don’t Miz’ Partnership Could Be On the Verge of Ending in WWE
The Miz informed Carmelo Hayes that winning a singles championship in WWE takes time and proceeded to share his personal experiences from John Cena to Logan Paul.
Miz then revealed to Hayes that he talked to General Manager Nick Aldis for a tag team match next week on SmackDown. However, the latter is seemingly not agreeing with the proposal as he continued looking at the general manager’s office.
Carmelo Hayes wanted to talk to Nick Aldis for a US Title shot, but The Miz gaslighted him again and lied, saying heβd already talked to Nick and got them a tag match for next week instead.

The Awesome One then did a pep talk to the 31-year-old and reminded him why he is HIM and why “Melo Don’t Miz.” The former NXT Champion reluctantly agreed while still looking at the office door.
With The Miz gaslighting and Hayes wanting a singles glory, it could potentially lead to a feud between the two, especially if The Awesome One turns on the former NXT Champion. It will be interesting to see how things go next week on SmackDown for the struggling duo.
