On November 14th it was reported that Kevin Owens had suffered an injury during a recent live event, less than two weeks ahead of WWE Survivor Series.
Although nothing had been confirmed, it was believed that Owens was due to be part of a huge main event at the show featuring The Bloodline and the Brawling Brutes. On the November 11th edition of SmackDown, Sheamus, Ridge Holland and Butch confronted Roman Reigns, The Usos and Sami Zayn with the help of Drew McIntyre. This was done to set up a match between the two factions where Kevin Owens would join with McIntyre and the Brawling Brutes. It was reported by PWInsider that this was scheduled to be the men’s WarGames match on the show.
Kevin Owens In Race To Be Fit For WWE Survivor Series
However, the injury to Owens now means that those plans are very much up in the air. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Owens has suffered a sprained MCL is undergoing treatment at the WWE Performance Center. Although it’s said that he’s “not moving very well” with a little over a week to go before the proposed match at WWE Survivor Series.
“So Kevin Owens is doing rehab at the Performance Center. It is confirmed that the main event on Survivor Series was going to be The Bloodline – Roman Reigns, The Usos, Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa against Butch, Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens. However, because Kevin Owens suffered an injury, the last I heard it was a sprained MCL, he was going to get it checked out. I had heard Monday morning (November 14th), I haven’t heard anything since, it was being checked out, but he’s rehabbing it.
I don’t know if he will be ready for the pay-per-view or not. If they do an angle on SmackDown on Friday and throw somebody else in, that tells you that he wasn’t ready. I do know from somebody who was… I did hear that he’s not moving very well, so he better heal up quick if he’s gonna make that pay-per-view. I don’t know the situation, whether he will or he won’t.”
At the live event on November 13th, Owens landed awkwardly during his match with Austin Theory. After the incident, the star was visibly in pain and seemingly worried that he had blown his knee out altogether. Immediately after the incident Owens and Theory went to the finish, which saw the former pick up the win with a Stunner.
