Since Triple H assumed creative control over WWE back in July 2022 a number of former Superstars have made their way back to the company and they could soon be joined by one more.
While Royal Rumble matches are known for surprise appearances from legends, it’s also the perfect opportunity for former Superstars to make a comeback.
Chelsea Green Heading For The WWE Royal Rumble?
It has long been rumoured that Chelsea Green will be back with WWE imminently, and now the woman herself had added to the speculation. In a post on Twitter, Green shared a gif of herself making her entrance into the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match. Should the post signal a comeback, Green will be hoping for a better run in the Rumble than she had three years ago when she lasted just 12 seconds before getting eliminated by Alexa Bliss.
Green initially signed with WWE in 2018 and spells with IMPACT Wrestling and Lucha Underground. The star endured something of a stop-start time with WWE due to injury problems.
Chelsea Green hasn’t wrestled since challenging for the NWA Women’s Championship at NWA Hard Times in New Orleans on November 11th. Since leaving WWE in April 2021 Green has wrestled anywhere and everywhere, appearing for IMAPCT Wrestling, Ring of Honor, the NWA and across the independent scene.
It was reported in early January that Chelsea Green had already signed with WWE and is waiting for creative.
Interestingly, it appears that Green’s husband Matt Cardona could also be making his own return to WWE in the near future. It was noted on January 19th that Cardona has filed a trademark for the name Zack Ryder. During his previous stint with WWE Cardona used the moniker as his ring name.
Matt Cardona wrestled his first WWE match in 2005 before signing a developmental contract with the company a year later. During this period he wrestled alongside friend and tag team partner Brian Myers who eventually became Curt Hawkins. The pair were promoted to the main roster in 2007 going on to win tag team gold on two occasions. As a singles competitor Cardona also won the Intercontinental, and United States Titles.
