As the wrestling world gears up for WrestleMania 39, one of the many events taking place is NXT Stand & Deliver.
The huge event takes place at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angles, California and offers up an awesome card which features the brand’s best and brightest talents. One of the key matches going down is Johnny Gargano vs Grayson Waller in an Unsanctioned Match.
The match between the two is going to be an intense outing due to their history. Back in 2021, Gargano cut an emotional promo to the crowd as his contract had expired and he was taking some time away to be a father. However, he was unable to finish his goodbye when the obnoxious Aussie nailed him with a steel chair to the back.
Since then Waller has risen quickly through the ranks. But after unsuccessfully challenging Bron Breakker for the Championship he demanded Shawn Michaels do something about it. He constantly called out the Hall of Famer but Micheals refused. HBK then called upon his old friend Johnny Wrestling.
Gargano returned and challenged Waller to an Unsanctioned Match to finally shut him up.
Speaking ahead of his match on Busted Open Radio, Gargano said he was destined to come back to the brand and get revenge on Waller.
“To be able to comeback there, it was a moment that was in the works for a long time. Obviously, when I came back to WWE, that was always in the back of my mind. The moment Grayson Waller took me out, if things were to work out and I was to comeback to WWE, I knew that we would settle the score sometime, someplace, right place, right time.
To comeback to NXT and have that moment, hear that crowd, and have it be a complete surprise. Say what you want abut the Garganos, the Garganos can keep a secret. No one knows when we’re showing up anywhere. To have that moment again really filled my heart with much joy. It’s an amazing thing and I’m very excited for Stand & Deliver to get one more TakeOver event under my belt and wrap my story up the right way.”
Johnny Gargano States His Stand & Deliver Match Will Be His Last On NXT
During the interview, Gargano revealed that this highly-charged match with Grayson Waller will be the end of his story on the brand he helped build.
“As it stands right now, for me, Stand & Deliver, that’s the end of Johnny Gargano’s story in NXT.”
The Premier Live Event is live on Saturday, April 1st, streaming on Peacock at 1 pm ET/10 am PT in the US and on the WWE Network at 5 pm UK time.
