A top WWE Superstar has officially reverted to their old ring name at WWE Clash At The Castle.

Before Clash At The Castle began in earnest the crowd were treated to an unadvertised pre-show match. The bout saw The Street Profits and Madcap Moss team to take on Alpha Academy and Mr Money In The Bank Austin Theory.

Yes. Austin Theory.

The former NXT star has been known as Theory since April but he has now officially reverted to his former moniker. This makes the star the latest in an increasingly long line of performers to revert to their old names, after a edict from former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon previously caused a switch.

The change has come as a surprise to many fans as Theory recently said that he didn’t want his full name back.

In the ring, Theory and the Alpha Academy were defeated by The Street Profits and Madcap Moss to the delight of the huge crowd in Cardiff.

Throughout 2022 a number of WWE Superstars have been renamed or have seen their ring names adapted. Austin Theory became Theory, WALTER was renamed Gunther, Pete Dunne is now known as Butch and Raquel Gonzalez debuted on Friday Night SmackDown as Raquel Rodriguez.

The changes didn’t sit well with a number of fans, while former NXT Women’s Champion Rodriguez publicly admitted that she wanted to keep her old name.

Following news that the policy regarding name changes had been scrapped, Riddle once again became Matt Riddle on Raw.
