A Money in the Bank qualifying was changed due to another WWE superstar possibly getting injured.
It was announced last week on SmackDown that Aliyah would face Shotzi in a Money in the Bank qualifier on this week’s episode of WWE’s blue brand. However, Aliyah was replaced by Tamina and had no presence on the show at all. Well, it appears Aliyah became the latest wrestler to catch the injury bug.
SmackDown commentator Pat McAfee said that Aliyah was hurt before the qualifying match. There’s no word on the injury’s severity nor how long Aliyah will be out from in-ring action. The replacement match saw Shotzi defeat Tamina to qualify for the ladder match, leaving now just one open spot.
Shotzi’s grudge against Aliyah started when she was locked inside the locker room by her arch-rival during an in-ring assault on Raquel Rodriguez. The green-haired superstar returned the favor by nearly costing Aliyah a chance to challenge for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. Aliyah would then call out her rival for acting like a locker room leader:
“Shotzi walks around here thinking she’s the leader. Well, she’s not because all she cares about is herself and I’m sick of it and I’m sick of her.”
This is far from the first superstar to be injured heading into Money in the Bank. Not only has Randy Orton been taken out of action due to a back injury, but it was revealed that Rhea Ripley needed to be pulled from the RAW Women’s Championship match against Bianca Belair due to her possibly suffering a concussion.
AEW has also had its share of injuries, with top stars such as CM Punk and Bryan Danielson being put on the shelf.
