It has become a common occurrence in recent months to see former WWE Superstars heading back to the company, and it appears that there could be more on the way.

Following the return of Sarah Logan on the November 11th edition of Friday Night SmackDown alongside the Viking Raiders, it has now been reported that WWE have been in contact with another former Superstar.

WWE Have “Made An Offer” Top New Japan Star

During a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that not only had WWE spoken with JONAH, formerly known as Bronson Reed, but they have also made him an offer. However, he also has an offer on the table from New Japan Pro Wrestling.

“JONAH has an offer from WWE, and he’s got to make a decision. It’s either got to be New Japan or WWE. Got a great push in New Japan and, you know, it’s going to be his call.”

Bryan Alvarez added that his WWE departure back in August 2021 was a surprise to all involved, while Meltzer stated that the biggest factor in the decision is likely to be money.

Alvarez: “It’s going to be interesting because he got a good push there for a while in NXT, and when he was cut, I mean everybody, including him obviously, were shocked. But it was a different regime, it was a Vince McMahon call. Then he went to New Japan, and tailor made, I mean, he has done great.

Meltzer: “He will actually do much better in New Japan than he will in WWE, but there is a big difference in money. They’re completely different lifestyles, so it depends on – I know a lot of guys would choose WWE, and I know a lot of guys who would choose New Japan given similar circumstances but I don’t know which one he would choose.

The one thing with New Japan is that he’s going to get a really big push there, we’ve already seen that, he’s going to be protected, and he’s going to get over, because he did get over at a high level. Whereas in WWE, on the main roster you just don’t know. But main roster WWE, even bottom number is a quarter-mill, ($250,000) and obviously top is millions if you make it to the top.”

JONAH originally signed with WWE in January 2019, appearing in NXT. During his time with the black and gold brand he captured the North American Championship. However, a call-up to the main roster never came and he was released in August 2021.

Following his departure, the star dropped the Bronson Reed name and headed to IMPACT Wrestling and New Japan. It has been in the latter where he has found most success, competing in the G1 Climax 32 in July and August. Although he failed to advance to the semi-finals the star did score an upset win over eventual winner Kazuchika Okada.
