Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins’ has boldly claimed himself to be better than a trio of wrestling icons; Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and the late Eddie Guerrero!
Although fan perception of him has never decisively swayed in one direction, Seth Rollins is unquestionably one of the best all-around performers in WWE. His in-ring work is sublime, while his character and promo skills are second-to-none, regardless of which role he’s playing.
In short, ‘The Visionary’ is great, but just how great, exactly, does he think he is? Well, according to Rollins, he’s on the same level – if not above – three of the best to ever do it.
During an exclusive pre-SummerSlam interview with the Hindustan Times, he compared his body of work to that of Hall of Famers Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and Eddie Guerrero when discussing former Shield brethren Roman Reigns:
“The amount of WrestleMania he’s [Reigns] main evented, it’s incredible. He is [a] statuesque man. He has got all the tools to be a Hulk Hogan, a John Cena. But he ain’t no Shawn Michaels. He ain’t no Eddie Guerrero. He ain’t no Bret Hart, that’s me. So I’m always gonna have that chip on my shoulder. I’m always gonna think that I’m the best in the business. And if that means Roman Reigns is one behind me, then that’s how it’s gotta be.”
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show earlier this year, Seth Rollins featured the Hall of Fame trio on his Mount Rushmore of wrestling, adding AEW’s Bryan Danielson as his final selection.
Rollins and Hart haven’t always seen eye to eye, with ‘The Hitman’ branding Rollins as an unsafe worker following Seth inadvertently breaking John Cena’s nose in 2015 with a knee to the face. This, however, clearly hasn’t diminished Seth’s opinions on Bret Hart as a performer.
The former Universal Champion will now face Riddle at the upcoming SummerSlam premium live event. SummerSlam is famous for hosting some of Bret Hart’s greatest clashes, as outings vs. The British Bulldog and Mr Perfect have been heralded as some of Hart’s greatest work.
