SummerSlam 2022 heralds the dawn of a new WWE era, but who will be the winners and losers at the Biggest Party of the Summer?
Just eight days before SummerSlam the landscape of WWE and professional wrestling shifted immeasurably.
As Vince McMahon announced his retirement surrounded by allegations of sexual misconduct, a combination of Stephanie McMahon, Nick Khan and Triple H assumed control. This means that SummerSlam 2022 will be the first-ever WWE pay-per-view/Premium Live Event without the billionaire at the helm.
One match which may have been affected by this change of creative direction is the proposed clash between Riddle and Seth Rollins. It has been announced that the Riddle is injured, but in reality the match has been postponed for storyline reasons.
It has also been reported that Triple H is looking to make a “creative splash” at the event. So let’s get down to business shall we?
In the main event, Roman Reigns defends his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in a Last Man Standing Match against Brock Lesnar. Elsewhere, Becky Lynch attempts to regain the Raw Women’s Championship from Bianca Belair and Ronda Rousey will try to do the same on SmackDown as she faces Liv Morgan.
Meanwhile, Logan Paul makes his singles debut against The Miz, The Mysterios square off against Judgment Day and Bobby Lashley defends his United States Title against Theory.
The Usos will also be in action against The Street Profits, with their Unified Tag Team Titles on the line, there is also the small matter of Jeff Jarrett serving as the special guest referee.
Pat McAfee will be stepping back in the ring when he takes on Happy Corbin.
