WWE Night of Champions 2025 faced its first hindrance.
A few nights ago, tensions in the Middle East escalated when the United States President Donald Trump launched three air strikes on Iran. While already an unstable region, things turned worse following the attack, with Iran promising retaliation.
Earlier today, Iran kept its promise and launched an air strike on USA’s military base in Qatar. With just a few days left for the Night of Champions PLE in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a major update has emerged on the wrestling promotion’s current situation.
According to Bryan Alvarez of WON, several WWE employees who flew in early for the PLE are now stuck at a Qatar airport. The airspace around Qatar has been temporarily shut down to maintain the safety of citizens and visitors. It is currently unknown when the airspace suspension will be lifted.
As of this writing, there has been no official notice from WWE regarding the cancellation or rescheduling of the premium live event, and the business for TKO appears to be operating as usual. The Stamford-based promotion is scheduled to hold its last RAW tonight in Columbus, Ohio, before traveling to Saudi Arabia.
A follow-up update from PWInsider clarified that several of the promotion’s staff had arrived in Saudi Arabia on the June 9 week itself, with additional production personnel arriving continuously since then; preparations had been underway for a week or more.

Further, in another update by Fightful Select, it was noted that as of now, the talents were slated to visit Saudi Arabia as usual. Fightful Select reported that a mid-week charter flight has been arranged for the travel, which would have them arrive in the country before SmackDown. It is also to be noted that several other fan events are expected to be announced.
