A major WWE streak was shattered at SummerSlam 2024.
The opening match of the night saw Liv Morgan retain her Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley. However, the bout witnessed a shattered almost 800-day streak. ‘Mami’ Rhea Ripley was last pinned over two years ago by Liv Morgan.
On 30th May 2022, Ripley suffered her last pinfall loss against Morgan, and now after 798 days, she finally came up short again against Morgan. Throughout this period, Ripley dominated all of her opponents and achieved victory over them.
Mami entered SummerSlam without a singles loss for over two years and hoped to maintain that record. Unfortunately, the night did not turn out to be in her favor, and she lost both her man and the World Championship. Despite becoming the first person to kick out of Morgan’s finisher, she fell short after another quick finisher on a steel chair.
The current Women’s Champion maintained her dominance over Mami and also broke her heart at the end of the match.
Rhea Ripley Suffers Heartbreaking Betrayal At WWE SummerSlam
The closing stages of the match saw Dominik Mysterio aid Liv Morgan snatch the victory and, and in-turn betray Rhea Ripley. Tension had been brewing between Morgan and Mysterio for some time, and fans finally witnessed the turn of events.
A heartbroken and shattered Ripley was left inside the squared circle, as Dominik Mysterio celebrated Morgan’s title defense.
