A match between The Rock and Roman Reigns is still part of WWE’s plans.
On January 27th, Cody Rhodes became the first man in 26 years to win back-to-back Royal Rumbles, with the last man to do it being Stone Cold Steve Austin with his victories in 1997 and 1998.
Following the win, Rhodes made it clear that he wants a rematch against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 and finally “finish the story” he started when he returned to the company in 2022.
With the main event of WrestleMania now seemingly set, fans have been left wondering when the much-anticipated match between Reigns and The People’s Champ will finally take place.
Rock gave a very clear indication that the match was coming during his appearance on the January 1st edition of Raw when he mentioned that he should sit at “the head of the table”. Following the show, many expected that the match would happen on the Grandest Stage Of Them All this year, but that no longer seems to be the case.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the bout was still happening. He also noted that while there have been discussions of where it will finally go down, he doesn’t know the final location.
“The Roman and Dwayne match is still happening. I just don’t know where and Bryan you probably know where because you probably know discussions I may know too and I can’t talk about them but anyways the point is, it’s still happening.”
The Rock Makes Bold Claim About Match With Roman Reigns
The Rock recently claimed that if he did face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, it would be the “biggest WrestleMania of all time.” The Great One was also sure to mention that it would be through the work of all the wrestlers involved in the event, and not just his match with Reigns.
