Kevin Owens has boldly claimed that he would rather face Finn Balor in his demon persona than while he’s wearing his new all-powerful purple bandana.
Wrestlers adapting their attire of ring gear to signal a rise in intensity is nothing new. For years Kurt Angle taking down the straps on his singlet meant that the end was near, while Wardlow currently employs a similar strategy in AEW.
Some wrestlers take this even further by reserving a special portion of their character for when things are about to get serious. One of these wrestles is Finn Balor, who has dipped in and out of being ‘The Demon’ depending on what the situation requires. However, the latest addition to his gear has some fellow Superstars fearing that there now might be no stopping the former WWE Universal Champion.
In the main event of the September 12th episode of Monday Night Raw, Balor led Judgment Day in a vicious assault on Edge, and he did so sporting a new purple bandana. While the new look was initially laughed off due to his resemblance to Michael Scott’s ‘Prison Mike’ character from the US Office, a new wave of fear has now begun to sweep the locker room.
Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, Kevin Owens and Johnny Gargano addressed the new addition to Finn Balor’s gear and how it made him more vicious. Owens even claimed that he would rather fight Balor as ‘The Demon’ than while he is wearing the bandana. You can find the exchange below.
“Kevin Owens: I think what we just saw from Monday was a whole new level of dominance. Also, I think what spurred it on was, Finn has this bandana when he came to the ring, the purple banana. Took him to a whole new level, and I think the viciousness.
Johnny Gargano: Like a Prison Mike kind of scenario.
Owens: Yeah, very Michael Scott. But man, clearly when Finn’s got that bandana on, you don’t want any part of him.
Gargano: Wait a minute, okay, this is an interesting debate here now. Do you think Finn is more powerful as ‘The Demon’ or as ‘Bandana Finn’? More vicious with the bandana, scarier as the demon. Which one do you not wanna cross paths with? Like you’re walking down the street, dark alley, middle of the night, you see ‘The Demon’ or you see Finn with a bandana. Who do you [feel] like, ‘I don’t wanna deal with this?’
Owens: I think I’d take my chances with ‘The Demon.’ If the paint comes off, he’s still ‘The Demon.’ It’s not reliant on the paint. But the bandana just takes him to a whole other level. Look at what they did.
Gargano: I’ve never seen something like that before in my life.”
It remains to be seen whether anyone can stop Finn “Prison Mike” Balor or his terrifying new bandana.
