A WWE Superstar was set to make their return to Friday Night SmackDown after a two-month absence according to a new report.

SmackDown on Friday, August 5th took place in Greenville, South Carolina and was packed full of action and a major shock return.

Ricochet picked up a big victory over Happy Corbin with Corbin’s issues with announcer Pat McAfee seemingly still in play. Shinsuke Nakamura faced off with Intercontinental Champion Gunther after Nakamura dispatched Ludwig Kaiser in a match.

A new number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship was crowned when Shayna Baszler won a gauntlet match to become Liv Morgan’s challenger for Clash At The Castle and The Viking Raiders squashed the interestingly named Jim Mulkey and Tommy Gibson before Erik was defeated by Kofi Kingston.

The night ended with Drew McIntyre talking down Unified WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns ahead of their match in the UK. The headlines were stolen, however, by a returning Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Kross took out McIntyre before Scarlett sent Reigns a message by placing her hourglass in the ring.

Fightful Select reported that another return was originally planned for the show with Drew Gulak originally slated for a tag team match with The Viking Raiders. Gulak last appeared on SmackDown back in May but has competed in dark matches as recently as July.
