WWE Star Warned About Working With John Cena – “You’re Going To Get Thrown Into Deep Water”

John Cena

At WrestleMania 39, Austin Theory defeated John Cena to retain his United States Title.

Although the match had been rumoured for months, it was finally set up on the March 6th episode of Monday Night Raw. After making his return to WWE, Cena was confronted by Theory who challenged him to a match at WrestleMania, not that the veteran accepted right away.

Cena went on the attack, verbally skewering Theory by suggesting that no one cared about him among other things.

During an appearance on the Out of Character podcast, Theory reflected on the segment. The United States Champion revealed that The Miz and Baron Corbin told him to get prepared before walking out as Cena would take him to the “deep water.”

“Yeah, you know, Miz, Baron Corbin, sounds like all the bad guys (are who told me to be ready for my in-ring segment with John Cena). They’re just like, ‘Man, just be ready. You’re gonna get thrown out there in some deep water. Just be prepared’ but, you know, I had my cool sneakers on and my shades that he talked trash about and I was feeling good.

I was like, I came out here with one thing in mind and I got it. So, you know, telling me people don’t believe in me, alright John. I’m gonna make you believe. I’m gonna make them all stop believing in you.”

John Cena Didn’t “Do Business” At WrestleMania 39

Although John Cena lost to Austin Theory at WrestleMania, Teddy Long claimed after the show that he hadn’t done business. Long suggested that Cena could have done more to help Theory come out of the match a bigger star, and deliver a better in-ring performance.
