WWE Star Talks The “Sting” Of Missing WrestleMania 39

WrestleMania 18 SkyDome Crowd

For every WWE Superstar the highlight of the year is WrestleMania. A spot on the main card is the most coveted prize of the year for all members of the roster and often provides the biggest payday of the year too. One current WWE Superstar who is not on the main card this year has spoken out to reveal his feelings about not being selected for a place on the show this year.

Former WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin has enjoyed his fair share of WrestleMania moments during his WWE tenure, with his main roster debut coming at WrestleMania 32. WIth over 100,000 fans in attendance, Corbin pulled off a huge shock to win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, last eliminating WWE Hall Of Famer Kane to become just the third Superstar to lift the coveted trophy.

The following year the former NFL star made an unsuccessful attempt to claim the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 33 in a match relegated to the pre-show.

WrestleMania 34 saw Corbin finish runner-up in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, eliminated by Matt Hardy before his most memorable WrestleMania moment came a year later when he defeated WWE Hall Of Famer and Olympic Gold Medallist Kurt Angle in the legendary Superstar’s final WWE match.

After victory in the 2019 King Of The Ring tournament, Corbin’s career seemed on the up but he fell to defeat against Elias at WrestleMania 36 held at the WWE Performance Center during the global pandemic.

His switch to the persona of ‘Happy Corbin’ led to a match with Drew McIntyre on night one of WrestleMania 38, but he was again defeated. After a recent storyline with JBL managing him fell flat, Corbin has been utilised in a limited fashion on television and whilst he competed in the 2023 Andre The Giant Battle Royal on the 31st March 2023 episode of SmackDown, he does not have a place on the main card for the first time in his main roster career.

Baron Corbin describes disappointment at missing WrestleMania

Corbin would tweet his disappointment at missing WrestleMania ahead of the event starting:

“Just so you are aware the sting of not being on mania is real!”

It remains to be seen what is next for Corbin in WWE, but he will be keen to return to ‘The Granddaddy Of Them All’ in Philadelphia next year for WrestleMania 40.
