Zelina Vega is the latest WWE Superstar to re-sign with the company.
As reported by PWInsider, Vega has signed a multi-year deal with WWE and joins multiple top stars who have committed to the promotion for the foreseeable future.
The former Women’s Tag Team Champion has been featured heavily on SmackDown throughout 2023, including a high-profile match against Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley at Backlash in Puerto Rico, where the LWO member made an emotional entrance to a rapturous ovation.
Internal reports have also praised Vega for her work in the LWO implosion angle that saw Santos Escobar betray Rey Mysterio, sidelining the Hall of Famer in storyline with a knee injury.
Signing with WWE back in 2017, Vega briefly departed the company in late 2020 following a reported disagreement over Superstars’ use of third-party platforms such as Cameo and Twitch. Vega would return to the company in July 2021, going on to win the Queen’s Crown tournament.
Multiple WWE Stars Commit To New Deals
As more contracts are set to expire imminently, WWE is looking to once again secure stars for the foreseeable future. Previous stars who have already signed new multi-year deals include Bayley, Rey and Dominik Mysterio, Cody Rhodes and Charlotte Flair.
Multiple stars nearing the end of their contracts shortly is a knock-on effect from 2019, where many Superstars committed to lucrative multi-year deals to prevent any negotiations with AEW. It has been previously reported that the re-singing of top stars has become a top priority under Endeavor ownership as the company does not want any big names to become free agents.
