One of WWE’s top stars who has been out for several months with an injury is reportedly due back on-screen soon with Becky Lynch in her sights.
Former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka hasn’t been seen inside a WWE ring since Money In The Bank on July 18th, 2021. While there has been official confirmation from WWE regarding the reason for Asuka’s absence, it has been reported that the Japanese star was dealing with an injury.
In the lead-up to the 2022 Royal Rumble, it was suggested that the former champion had been cleared to return and there was a chance that she would be appearing at the event. However, the show came and went without the former NXT star. A report following the Royal Rumble noted that Asuka was considered “not physically ready” to return.
Now Fightful Select has issued a report stating that Asuka could be set to return to WWE Raw imminently, with the possibility that the Japanese star could mark her on-screen return to the company as soon as the 25th of April edition of Raw which will emanate from Knoxville, Tennessee.
The report goes on to state that Asuka’s return is expected to see her enter a program with former Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. Asuka was the main beneficiary when Lynch left WWE to have her first child, taking over from Lynch as WWE Raw Women’s Champion as a result of her Money In The Bank success in 2020.
The Empress of Tomorrow signed with WWE in 2015, before going on to become the longest-reigning NXT Women’s Champion in history. In the process, she remained undefeated during her entire two-year stay with the black and gold brand.
