On the most recent edition of Friday Night SmackDown a former champion appeared to suffer an injury during their match.
Following the news that Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne had been forced to withdraw from the Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament a “Second Chance” Fatal-Four-Way Match was announced for the August 26th episode of SmackDown.
Whichever team won the bout which featured Nikki A.S.H & Doudrop, Dana Brooke & Tamina, Natalya & Sonya Deville and Shotzi & Xia Li would take the place of Toxic Attraction in the semi-finals.
In the end it was the team of Deville and Natalya who picked up the win after Dana Brooke delivered a huge super-plex on Nikki A.S.H which took out the rest of the women in the match. Apart from Deville that is. She had slyly tagged herself in as Brooke set up the move, meaning she was able to roll Nikki A.S.H back in the ring and score the pin.
However, as she took the superplex, Nikki A.S.H appeared to hit her knee and ankle on the barrier at ringside. The former Raw Women’s Champion immediately clutched her leg on impact, and videos have emerged online of her being checked by doctors at ringside.
After the match, the star was seen arguing with her partner Doudrop backstage, although her injury status remains unclear.
Although Natalya and Deville picked up the win, their run in tournament came to a shuddering halt later in the show as they were defeated by Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah. The victors will now face IYO SKY and Dakota Kai on Raw in the finals.
