WWE Star Reveals They Were Meant To Be In The Hurt Business

WWE star, Bobby Lashley The Hurt Business

WWE’s decision to end The Hurt Business is still one that mystifies a huge number of fans.

During their time together the faction proved popular with audiences around the world and helped Bobby Lashley rise to the top of the card.

After falling just short of establishing himself as a main event star upon initially returning to WWE in 2018, Bobby Lashley’s fortunes changed in June 2020.

With the end of his poorly received on-screen relationship with Lana – CJ Perry – Lashley joined forces with MVP before the pair eventually recruited Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin. Over the following months Lashley became WWE Champion and Alexander & Benjamin won the Raw Tag Team Titles.

However, come April 2021 the group was falling apart with Alexander and Benjamin kicked to the curb.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy ahead of WrestleMania 39, Ricochet has now revealed that both he and Apollo Crews were originally meant to be part of the group.

“It was supposed to be like all the original Hurt Business guys, plus me, plus Apollo [Crews]. It would have been something. But then, who beats that? I honestly think they were like ‘let’s take a couple of people out.”

Mixed Fortunes For WWE Pair Ricochet And Bobby Lashley

Ricochet has been a regular feature of SmackDown in recent months, finding success in an unlikely team with Braun Strowman. The pair are set to compete on night one of WrestleMania as part of the men’s WrestleMania showcase.

By contrast, things for Bobby Lashley appear much more uncertain. After a planned match with Bray Wyatt has seemingly fallen by the wayside, the star is due to take part in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on SmackDown.
