WWE Star Pat McAfee Reportedly Starting New Project; Leaving Soon?

Pat McAfee is a WWE commentator

Pat McAfee has been a part of WWE programming for a while now. However, he is now looking to start a new project.

McAfee is a part of the RAW brand, where he sits behind the commentary desk alongside Michael Cole. He also occasionally gets in the ring, as he did against Gunther recently at Backlash. The star is an asset for WWE, as his Pat McAfee Show also garners a lot of mainstream attention toward the wrestling promotion. The former NFL punter is also a part of ESPN and hosts the College GameDay show.

With around two years left on his College GameDay contract, the star could be looking to go solo. According to The Athletic, Pat McAfee has “mused with associates” about starting an independent version of College GameDay. The star still has a significant length left on his ESPN contract, so it might not be happening soon, but it is not out of the realm of possibility. Whether he will also move The Pat McAfee Show out of ESPN as a result has not yet been reported.

Could Pat McAfee leave WWE if his new project comes to fruition?

While College GameDay is an important project for Pat McAfee, he has always remained loyal to WWE and has stated on multiple occasions that he loves being associated with the program.

Even if he does the GameDay show independently, it is unlikely he will quit wrestling commentary altogether.

As for his future plans, it remains to be seen how things pan out. The star was absent from the latest episode of RAW, with Wade Barrett taking his place.
