A WWE veteran spoke very highly of Triple H.
The Cerebral Assassin has formed a lot of meaningful bonds throughout his wrestling career, both in and outside the ring. Along with adversaries, he also made friends. Now, he is a mentor and leader in the Stamford-based company. However, for Randy Orton, The Game had those roles in his life since the beginning of The Viper’s career.
While appearing on What’s Your Story with Stephanie McMahon, Randy Orton was asked who his mentors in the business were, to which he answered that one of them was Triple H. He noted how The Game always believed in him and was there with him when he was getting “big in the head.”
[Who are some of your mentors that helped steer you in the right direction?] Well, your husband [Triple H] was probably the number one. Not because he’s in the room. And I’ll put him over till the day I die, as far as seeing something in me early on that I didn’t see in myself. And then putting up with me as I started to kind of get the big head at a very young age. And maybe didn’t take things as seriously as I should have and sticking it out to where we are now to where I’ve kind of come full circle. And it’s like, I see how everything comes full circle.”
Randy Orton and Triple H had many memorable WWE feuds, the most personal one arguably in 2009 when the former involved the rest of the McMahon family and kissed Stephanie McMahon. However, their relationship wasn’t always as violent. When The Apex Predator was beginning his career, he was with The Game as part of Evolution, along with Ric Flair and Batista.
Randy Orton Names Other WWE Legends That Helped His Career
In the same conversation, Randy Orton shared that several other names helped him both in and outside the ring.
Aside from WWE’s CCO, The Viper noted that The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair were some of the names that helped guide him early in his career. Now, he finds it interesting that he’s the one talking and guiding younger stars.
