While the majority of WWE’s major storylines lead to WrestleMania, the days and weeks after the event are often seen as a time to reset.
New champions need new challengers, and rising stars need a pathway up the card so they can top WrestleMania next year. So although a big WrestleMania match might not be in the offing this year, that doesn’t mean all is lost.
One person who finds themself in this strange position in 2023 is LA Knight. At present, Knight doesn’t have a match for WrestleMania 39, but big things could be in his future. A report from WrestlingNews.Co has suggested that those in positions of power in WWE are impressed with Knight’s work and the reactions he gets from crowds.
The report adds that they have been told that Triple H “wants to do more” with Knight after WrestleMania.
This ties in with comments made by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, where he said WWE was impressed with the reaction Knight got at a live event at Madison Square Garden.
“As far as LA Knight goes, at Madison Square Garden (Sunday night), LA Knight was in the battle royal and he got a big babyface reaction. Madison Square Garden and WWE, it’s a weird thing because, if it was any other arena in the country, they’d just go, ‘Ah whatever, it doesn’t matter’, they don’t listen to the crowd. But if it’s Madison Square Garden, they do listen.
So it’s something to just remember, because it helped LA Knight a lot. Obviously he’s just there to basically be a guy who talks real good and then gets humiliated, that’s been his role since he got there, and he got a lot of offense in this match (vs Rhodes on Raw), they went longer than I expected them to do, and it’s because, if the Garden fans like you…
The Toronto fans are Bizarro Land, the Montreal fans are Bizarro Land – the Garden fans, when they’re Bizarro Land, it counts. So it counts for him.”
LA Knight To Face Steve Austin At WWE WrestleMania?
While LA Knight isn’t currently announced for a match at WrestleMania, that doesn’t mean that one hasn’t been discussed, including a clash with a WWE legend. Despite Steve Austin turning down matches with Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, WWE is still trying to get him to compete at WrestleMania and has pitched a match with Knight.
Knight was most recently in action on the March 13th episode of Raw where he lost out to Cody Rhodes.
