Since making her return to the ring in February, Carmella has been on a hot streak.
In her first match back on the February 6th edition of Raw, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion defeated Candice LeRay, Minchin, and Piper Niven to secure her place in the Elimination Chamber match to determine Bianca Belair’s next challenger.
While she came up short inside the Chamber, the Princess of Staten Island came within touching distance of victory, only to be the last woman eliminated by Asuka.
As she continues to turn heads with her renewed determination to get back to the the top of the Women’s Division, the star has hit out at people saying she can’t wrestle.
Carmella hits back at critics
Speaking on a recent edition of After The Bell with Corey Graves, she pointed out that she has made history in the ring on more than one occasion.
“I’ve made history in the WWE, several times. I think Carmella is overlooked because people look at Carmella and think, ‘I have the looks, I can talk,’ but I think people underestimate my in-ring ability.”
“There is something to be said for that. For me, I feel like it’s a chip on my shoulder and I feel I have to go out there and prove exactly what I can do.”
Turning to her critics, Carmella said she’s already proved them wrong time and again and is fine with being underrated.
“‘Oh, Carmella can’t wrestle.’ First of all, that was like so 2016. People thought I couldn’t wrestle in 2016. I proved them wrong time and time again. I love to be underestimated. I’d rather be underestimated, underrated, than overrated.”
“Now, I always have something to prove. I want to prove to everybody why I belong here. That’s exactly what I’ve done. I not only have the looks, I not only can talk, I can go.”
“If people still don’t want to talk about that and recognize and give me the credit I deserve, that’s on them, they’re an idiot and they’re clearly blind.”
During the same interview, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion also bravely spoke about her experiences with a recent ectopic pregnancy.
