While it’s not uncommon for The Undertaker to serve as inspiration for wrestlers inside the squared circle, it might be a surprise that he’s also inspired a former star with a project outside of the ring.
Although The Undertaker altered his character throughout his career, his portrayal of ‘The Deadman’ has become the stuff of legend. A legend that has seemingly made an impact with former WWE Superstar Lana. The star, real name CJ Perry, recently revealed that her role in a new movie was inspired by the WWE Hall of Famer.
The Undertaker Inspired CJ Perry
Speaking in a new interview with Wrestling Inc, Perry discussed a number of projects that she has coming up. This includes something she describes as “really spicy and steaming” that is coming to her website.
“There’s new incredible drops coming, but also different things of what we were just discussing about I’m going to start putting on there. So different ways of the management company that I’m starting that I want it to be in wrestling, and I’m starting to do character work over there that I will show bits and pieces on social.
But the bulk of it is going to be on CJPerry.com, and it’s going to be really spicy and steamy, and I’m really excited about it. And I think the wrestling fans will really enjoy it as well, so subscribe to that. It’s definitely going to be blurred line stuff going on and story stuff going on that could… Maybe our conflict will be resolved in the ring there, so definitely subscribe.”
The former WWE Superstar also revealed that she has a new movie coming out with Paramount, where her character is inspired by The Undertaker.
“And then I also have a movie coming out with Paramount. I can’t give all the details yet, but where I’m playing an assassin. And I’m super excited because I’m one of the lead assassins in it. And it’s definitely a cool departure from WWE where I was always in pink and getting my ass whooped. There I’m whooping all these big men’s asses, and I’m in black. And it’s actually, the character was inspired from The Undertaker.”
CJ Perry joined WWE in 2013 where she was given the name Lana and managed the man who would later become her real-life husband, Rusev. Now known as Miro in AEW.
Following a successful stint alongside Rusev all the way to the upper echelons of the main roster, Lana also began to appear as a wrestler, mainly at live events. After Miro was released in 2020, Lana transitioned into being a full-time, in-ring performer, via a short lived storyline with Bobby Lashley.
However, Lana was released on June 2nd 2021, alongside the likes of Braun Strowman, Aleister Black (Malakai Black), Ruby Riott (Ruby Soho) and others.
