WWE Star Doesn’t Want Tag Team Split Despite Singles Success

Former WWE Star Looks Unrecognisable Following Surprising Career Change

One WWE star is happy to stay part of a tag team despite finding success as a singles attraction.

Jim Ross recently spoke about Steve Austin not wanting to compete in tag team action once he became a top singles star, but in a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, current World Tag Team Champion Ivar expressed the opposite view. While his tag team partner Erik was out with an injury, Ivar found success as a singles wrestler, but he prefers to focus on his story within the tag team division now that the team is back together.

“So, no. I’ve answered this a few times before. I mean, New Day’s having their turmoil now, but for a decade on WWE television New Day’s been together, and it’s never happened, yet. So I feel like we’re in the same boat, maybe we can do singles things on the side.

“I Don’t See Us Breaking Up” – Ivar On Partnership With Erik In WWE

Ivar continued, pointing out that he and Erik could pursue singles goals while remaining in a tag team if the opportunity arose.

Maybe we don’t have a story in the tag division and something opens up for you know me for the Intercontinental title, or maybe something opens up for Erik for the Speed Championship, just one below whatever I’m doing [laughs]. But I think we can do things.”

Continuing, the star made it clear that while he and Erik are more than capable of singles competition, he believes they’ll stick together and support each other in whatever the future may bring.

“We’re both great singles wrestlers. I don’t think anyone realized that until I had this recent singles run, and he’s just as good. If just the opportunity is there it’s great, but I don’t see us breaking up. I don’t see us splitting up. I think we’re always gonna be there to support each other.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Ivar spoke about returning to the War Raiders name after years of being the Viking Raiders and whether other changes might be in store for the team. The star also opened up about his recent injury.
